The first semester we focus on studying our dance/movement techniques,
and the second semester we shift our concentration to performance preparation.
Choreography is set and rehearsed with our dance partners, costumes
are tailored, and props are designed. The annual performance is the
highlight of the dance season. It is an opportunity for our performers
to share their accomplishments with friends and family.
The show promises
to move you in a way no other will!
Offsite
Program:
As Moving Miracles
has grown over the past years, we have been fortunate to be able to
share music, movement and dance outside our studios with the development
of our community outreach/offsite program. Currently we hold classes
on a weekly and/or bi-weekly basis at several agencies and schools that
service more than 150 individuals that are challenged by disability;
including, Autistic Services, Visually Impaired Preschool and two of
the Heritage Centers’ Schools. We also offer an after school program
to Middle School students at Pioneer Central and to students at the
Heritage after School Program at St. Mary’s School for the Deaf.
This year we have also started an exciting new program through the Child
Life Program at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. Presently,
offsite programming runs October through May. We hope to continue to
expand on this sector of the program as we recognize the need for our
services throughout many schools and programs. If you or your local
school/organization would like more information on our Community Outreach
Program, please call our studios at 656-1321. We want to express our gratitude to the administrations,
staff and families who have made our program successful.
Day
Habilitation Program:
Since the fall of 1999, Moving Miracles has offered an in studio dance
movement program for adults in our community who attend day habilitation
and day treatment programs through various agencies throughout WNY.
On a biweekly basis, almost 50 consumers are transported from their
day program to our studios where we offer dynamic classes for ambulatory
and non-ambulatory students that enhance various skills in balance,
coordination, body awareness, social interactions, rhythm and dance.
Instructors, dancers and their staff, as well as volunteers from the
community, come together during class for exercise, socialization, creative
expression and an opportunity to enrich their lives with music, movement
and dance.
